AJAX DOWNS, JUNE 25 2025 - Orphaned at just nine days old and a tornado survivor, SW THE LION KING roars into the final of the $31,050 Unclassified Stakes at Ajax Downs on June 25 as one of the favourites. A field of 10 Quarter Horses will race 330 yards in the Unclassified, which was introduced to the Ajax Downs stakes schedule two years ago for horses just below the top stakes category.
AJAX DOWNS, JUNE 15, 2025 - Father's Day at Ajax Downs had a little bit of everything for the large crowd that crammed the track for an eight-race card on a warm, early summer afternoon. The highlight of the day was jockey BRIAN BELL's 800th career victory which came in the last race of the day aboard the stakes winning stallion MARYLAND MAGIC, owned by Milena Kwiecien and trained by Jason Pascoe.
AJAX DOWNS, FRIDAY JUNE 13, 2025 - Ajax Downs' first special Sunday of Quarter Horse racing is Father's Day, June 15, with prizes, giveaways and pizza, an exciting eight-race card and Canada's winningest Quarter Horse jockey BRIAN BELL on his quest for 800 winning rides. First race post time this Sunday is 12:55 p.m. and the forecast is for a picture-perfect early summer afternoon.

With the final four Barrel Racers confirmed following the conclusion of the 2025 Calgary Stampede Barrel Racing Qualifiers on June 11, the full slate of 210 elite rodeo athletes who will compete in the iconic Calgary Stampede Rodeo, running July 4–13, at GMC Stadium, has been finalized.
