Equine owners, riders and enthusiasts will enjoy three days of everything horse when the Mane Event, Equine Education and Trade Fair comes to the Western Fair District Metroland Media Agriplex, in London, Ontario May 12 – 14, 2017. With over 85 hours of equine education in the form of clinics, demos and presentations plus an equine-based trade fair offering a multitude of equine products, services and information this is the place to be.
This year’s clinicians are Geoff Teall, a hunter champion trainer and judge with over 35 years experience; David Marcus an former Olympian and one of North America’s top dressage competitors, who represented Canada at the 2012 London Olympic Games and the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France; Linda Parelli, the other half of the Parelli Natural Horsemanship duo and a well respected horse woman in her own right; Suzy Stafford the youngest and first American driver to win an individual gold medal in a World Championship at the 2005 FEI World Pony Driving Championship in England. Suzy and was named 2005 Driver of the Year by The Chronicle of the Horse, back-to-back USEF National Single Horse Driving Champions (2015 & 2016). Stafford and her current horse are now poised to help carry the USA’s medal hopes onto the podium at this summer’s 2016 FEI World Single Horse Championships in Piber, Austria.

Also participating is Doug Leasor who will be presenting sessions on barrel racing and pole bending. Doug can work with all levels of horses and riders to help them to better their times and achieve their goals. Doug’s ability to start young horses and turn them into safe, sane competitors that enjoy their jobs are trademarks of his program. Steve Rother will be presenting horsemanship sessions. Steve’s Excel with Horses program is dedicated to helping those wishing to pursue a better relationship with their horse and has designed a simple step-by-step program designed for all breeds and disciplines. The Trainers’ Challenge is a colt starting competition based on education and judged on how the trainers educate the colts as well as how they educate the public watching. The trainers participating in this year’s challenge are Dale Clearwater, of Saskatchewan is a well-known and respected horse trainer with much success in the cutting and reined cowhorse pens. Kerry Kuhn, of Kansas a horseman and national ambassador for Purina Mills’ Equine Influential Team who was the official clinician on ‘Best of America by Horseback’, and popular show on RFD-TV, for several years. Rounding out the trio is Ryan Rose of Wisconsin, 4* Senior Parelli Instructor who has studied directly under Pat Parelli for four years. He has personally started over 1,000 horses and has traveled around the world teaching horsemanship.
Watch for information on the Youth Pro-Am Challenge, where youth riders team up with Mane Event clinicians to compete in a timed obstacle course on the youth’s horse. This is a fun, fast paced event that is a blast for the youth as well as the audience watching. Applications are currently being accepted please see the website for information.
Daily admission tickets at the door are $17.00 for adults; $12.00 for youth (7-12 years) and 3-day passes for adults $45.00 and youth $30.00, while tickets available on the website offer special savings. These tickets give you general admission seating to all events, however VIP tickets are available for the Trainers Challenge and guaranteed seating for the Youth Pro-Am and the Saturday night Equine Experience are also available.
