Horse Country Campground is excited to host the second annual “Pick n Ride” festival this August 10-13. Located in the beautiful Ottawa Valley, the ranch style resort setting is the back drop for four days of live bluegrass music, horsemanship clinics, racing cowboys, and family fun.
Festival director, Walter Willett founded Quebec’s first and largest bluegrass music festival, the New Richmond Bluegrass Festival, back in 2003. As the owner of Horse Country, he combined this experience with horsemanship events to create a unique event and one not to miss.
The weekend line-up includes clinics by David Cowley, first nations dancing and demonstrations featuring The Anishanabe Experience, and a fantastic line up of bluegrass entertainment featuring headliners grammy-nominated Special Consensus (Illinois) and Kevin Prater Band (Kentucky) along with amazing local talent from across Ontario. MC, Rick Leben, will keep the crowd roaring with sound supplied by John Cameron Sound.
“The most amazing thing about a bluegrass music festival is the field jamming and new friends you can meet in the RV Park. No matter what your skill level, or if you just enjoy listening to live music, a bluegrass festival is the place to meet people and enjoy great local talent”, said Willett. The horsemanship clinics run Thursday to Sunday 9am-4pm.
The Bluegrass lineup includes a Thursday “Amateur Talent” showcase sponsored by Mill Music, and main stage is open Friday and Saturday evening 4pm-11pm. The festival wraps up with a traditional bluegrass gospel show on Sunday morning.
Bring your guitar or banjo and join in the field jams in the RV Park. A weekend pass is $85.00 per person and includes 3 nights of camping in the RV Park, access to all shows, the resort and discounts off meals, guided horseback riding and white water rafting trips.
Horse Country Campground is pleased to announce the grand prize winner of their draw for Pick N’ Ride Bluegrass Festival tickets. Ballots were collected earlier this spring at the Can-Am Equine Expo in Markham and The Mane Event in London shows.  And so the winner is – insert extended drum roll here – Angela Wilken from Clifford, ON.  Angela and a lucky guest are in for a ton of fun, receiving weekend passes for the Pick N’ Ride Bluegrass Festival, August 10-13th.  The 4 day festivity happens at Horse Country Campground in Forester Falls, ON, located in the beautiful Ottawa Valley.  The passes include entry to the park, camping for the 3 nights and all the fun activities listed above.
Didn’t win tickets but still want to go?  No problem. Check out or contact Walter and Brenda at 613-867-0585 to get your own.
