AJAX DOWNS, AUGUST 12, 2025 - The Queen is back.
QUEEN CHARLOTTE, the 2024 Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario's Horse of the Year, is making her first start of this year in the $30,510 PRINCESS MATURITY on Wednesday, August 13. The Maturity, at 400 yards, is the final race on a seven-race card this week at Ajax Downs. First race post time is 1:45 p.m.
Queen Charlotte, a diminutive Ontario-bred by One Fabulous Eagle - Leanintoit by Tres Seis, went on a four-race winning streak in 2024 that included a victory in the Princess Maturity and a huge win in the Alex Picov Memorial Championship in which she defeated multiple champion Had to Be Ivory.
Queen Charlotte's dam Leanintoit was also a QROOI Horse of the Year, winning the title in 2011.

Owned, trained, and bred by James Bogar of Cameron, ON, 5-year-old Queen Charlotte is a seven-time winner in her career and she has drawn post position 2 in the nine-horse field, with Brian Bell riding.
In a rarity, Queen Charlotte's younger half sister, RELENTLESS BETTY, is also a contender in the Princess Maturity for Bogar. A 4-year-old, Relentless Betty is getting her first try in a stakes race and comes in on a winning streak of six races. Tony Phillips rides 'Betty' from post nine.
The red-hot Bryn Robertson stable, which has 14 wins from 22 starters this year, sends out HAD TO BE IVY, a full sister to multiple champion Had to Be Ivory. Had to Be Ivy was a close second to her famous older brother in the July 16 Ontario Bred Maturity. She has nine career wins, and Ismael Mosqueira, the leading rider at Ajax Downs by wins at 23, will have the mount.
*Also on Wednesday's card, the 2023 Horse of the Year, SNOW MOOSE, prepares for the Picov Championship in a 110-yard Gridiron Gallop, race 5, for owner Milena Kwiecien.
