CHILLIN WITH PEEPS had yet another flawless performance, winning her Trial by 2 1/2 lengths in a time of 18.221 for 350 yards.
AJAX DOWNS, JULY 20 2026 - It was an afternoon of magical performances at Ajax Downs on Sunday, July 19, highlighted by the iconic RCMP MUSICAL RIDE following the day's Quarter Horse races.
Hundreds of fans of all ages crammed the grandstands on both sides of the track and enjoyed the pomp and pageantry of the Mounties and their remarkable horses as they danced their way through their famous formations and drills set to popular music. Following the performance, many had a chance to meet the mounties and their beautiful horses. The afternoon was also dedicated to the United Way of Durham with a 50-50 draw and raffle draws.

On the track, two Trials for the Princess Derby were held, and the exciting Ontario bred filly CHILLIN WITH PEEPS had yet another flawless performance, winning her Trial by 2 1/2 lengths in a time of 18.221 for 350 yards. Joe Tavares' OPEN A NEW CORONA won the other Trial in 18.441 for a 79 speed index.
Chillin With Peeps, now four for five in her career, was coming off a stirring win in the Ontario Bred Derby in which she posted a strong 99 speed index for her romp at 300 yards in a fast 15.39. Owned, trained and bred by Chantal Bourgeois, Chillin With Peeps was ridden by Cassandra Jeschke. The Princess Derby final will be held on August 5 and will have a purse in excess of $50,000.

Jockey ALEXIS SANCHEZ and owner and trainer RICK KENNEDY won the last two races on Saturday with the filly MAGIC IN WONDERLAND, bred by Kassidy Brown of Prince Edward County, and EYE SPY MY, bred by the late Howard Walton.
*The next racing day at AJAX DOWNS is Wednesday JULY 29 with a first race post time of 3:30 p.m. The final of the Ontario Bred Futurity for 2-year-olds headlines the day's racing.
