BROMONT, QC - Sabrina Lefebvre of Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines piloted her long-time partner RF Most Wanted (Max) to a speedy victory, Sunday July 26, in the Défi Bromont Challenge Grand Prix presented by Assante Wealth Management / Group El Chaer at the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park.
The victory marks the end of a busy week for Lefebvre, who also captured the ATP Lab Welcome class earlier in the week as well as coaching students competing.

Returning to the grand prix ring for the first time since competing at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, Florida, over the winter, her 13-year-old gelding Max proved unbeatable against a competitive field.
Going first in the short-course jump-off, Lefebvre knew she had to be fast, but more importantly she had to be clean in order to stay at the top of the pack.

"I have had Max for three and a half years now, and we know each other very well," said an ecstatic Lefebvre. "This was his first class back after a little break, he knows his job very well. Brody Robertson’s course suited him; I could do some very tight turns and leave out some strides, which was perfect for my horse. Because I was first to go in the jump-off, I tried to do all the inside turns and leave a stride out in both lines. I had to set a good pace to make the others run a bit to catch my time."
Their clean round and fast time of 36.260 seconds proved unbeatable, with second place finishers Romain Sicot and Interstella De Rima finishing in 38.650 seconds, and third place Kaila Robert finishing in 39.750 seconds.

Lefebvre will look to continue her winning streak as the tournament continues next week. "I’m competing this week again with the same group of horses," she added. "I am looking forward to jumping (Canadian Course Designer) Michel Vaillancourt’s courses, and I really hope to get another Grand Prix win over one of his courses."

Fifty years ago today, Quebec’s own Michel Vaillancourt piloted Branch County to an individual silver medal in the 1976 Montréal Olympics. Their medal was Canada’s first ever Olympic medal in any equestrian event. The equestrian events of the Montréal Olympics were held here, at the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park, one of just a handful of continually Olympic equestrian venues remaining world-wide.
