Reformulated to provide higher levels of protein, essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals when forage falls short
[GUELPH, ON] — [AUGUST 10TH, 2026] — Brooks Feeds has introduced the next generation of its All Phase™ Ration Balancer, featuring a more concentrated formula, a lower recommended feeding rate and redesigned packaging. Developed to complement lower-quality hay and pasture, or when used with a complete feed that is being fed below recommended feeding rates, the updated formula helps provide the protein, vitamins and minerals that may be lacking in a horse’s forage.
Hay and pasture are the foundation of a horse’s diet, but their nutritional value can vary considerably depending on growing conditions, maturity at harvest, storage and other factors. When forage is lower in protein, vitamins or minerals, Brooks All Phase helps fill those nutritional gaps.
“Not all forage provides the same level of nutrition,” said Laurie Bishop, Equine Nutritional Advisor with Brooks Feeds. “When hay or pasture falls short, All Phase provides a dependable combination of nutrients to help create a more complete and balanced feeding program.”
Suitable for horses at every life stage, All Phase can be used in feeding programs for growing horses, mature horses, broodmares, performance horses and seniors. Feeding recommendations are adjusted according to the horse’s body weight, life stage and activity level.
The improved formula delivers significant nutritional changes compared with the previous formulation, including:
· 50% more protein
· 145% more lysine
· 167% more methionine
· 50% more vitamin E
· More than seven times the previous level of biotin
· 35% lower Non-structural Carbohydrates, with NSC reduced from 16.72% to 10.80%
The formula contains no molasses and includes organic minerals, as well as BMC™ Buffered Mineral Complex—a source of highly bioavailable, marine-derived calcium and essential trace minerals.
“This is much more than a new bag,” Bishop explained. “We have made meaningful changes to the formula, with substantial increases in several important nutrients and a significant reduction in NSC. The result is a more advanced ration balancer designed to provide dependable nutritional support when forage quality is limited.”
Unlike a vitamin and mineral supplement alone, All Phase supplies quality protein and essential amino acids in addition to vitamins and minerals. This makes it particularly useful when hay or pasture does not provide adequate protein to meet the horse's needs.
“The increased levels of lysine and methionine help provide the essential amino acids horses need but cannot produce on their own. These are especially important for growing horses, broodmares and horses with increased nutritional demands,” Bishop added.
Because the improved formula provides higher levels of key nutrients in a concentrated serving, the recommended daily feeding amounts are lower than those for the previous formula. Horse owners should transition gradually and follow the updated directions rather than continuing to use the former feeding rate to get the most benefit from the new formula.
The improved Brooks All Phase Ration Balancer is available in a newly designed 25 kg bag. It is being introduced through Brooks Feeds dealers as existing inventories of the previous formula are depleted, giving horse owners access to the updated formula as it becomes available.
