The Erin Agricultural Society is delighted to welcome an exciting lineup of horse breeds and equine disciplines back to the 176th Erin Fall Fair. From Heavy Horses and Sport Horses to Mini Horses, rare breeds, and beloved backyard ponies, there will be something for every horse enthusiast to enjoy. For the full schedule, visit erinfair.com.
This year, the Equine Tent will feature a special exhibit under the banner Warhorse.
The exhibit honours the horses that have served—and continue to serve—in times of war, policing, and public service. Local Erin Fair resident and EAS volunteer John Duckworth will share stories and memories of his father, William Noel Duckworth, who served in the First World War with Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) Mounted Cavalry Unit. Throughout the weekend, the Equine Tent will also host the Erin Fair Homecraft division as volunteers demonstrate knitted and crocheted poppy making. The poppies collected will be donated to the Erin Royal Canadian Legion in honour of its 100th anniversary.
The Erin Fair Horse Heritage Awards will be presented at 11 a.m. in the Equine Tent.
Each year since 2018, the Erin Agricultural Society has recognized an individual, business, organization, or horse that has made a significant contribution to our local horse community.
Fair visitors can look forward to meeting a variety of horse breeds in the Equine Tent throughout the weekend, including:
Saturday: Ontario Special Skills Mounted Unit; rare breeds including the Lac La Croix Indigenous Pony and Caspian Horse; and Mini Horse.
Sunday: Heavy Horses, including Skyridge Clydesdales mare and foal; Sport Horse; mixed breeds; and Quarter Horse.
Monday: LongRun Thoroughbred horses with Eurico Da Silva demonstrating Equine Facilitated Learning/FEEL®; and Paso Finos from La Hacienda Santa Maria, including a special presentation at 10 a.m. Monday on the track.
