EquiMania’s new co-ordinator Nicole Weidner was on hand answering many questions

Guelph, ON July 28, 2023 - HorseDay Erin, held in early June at the Erin Fairgrounds, gave back to the local equine community to support horse education and horse welfare.

“One of the goals of HorseDay Erin is to create a long term, community event, that supports horses in Erin, in Wellington County, and throughout Ontario.” says Bridget Ryan, event organizer. “We are so pleased to support Equine Welfare through donating a portion of the event proceeds to Equine Guelph and Erin Agricultural Society.

Other local horse groups receiving donations from HorseDay Erin proceeds the Erin Agricultural Society (Horse Heritage), Trail Ride For BreastCancer, and the OMSSU, Ontario’s mounted unit.

The event was supported by many local businesses, including Central Counties Tourism, Grand River Agricultural Society, Sharpe Farm Supplies and Angelstone Show Jumping Events.

“We were delighted to bring EquiMania! to HorseDay and participate in this wonderful event,” says Equine Guelph director, Gayle Ecker.  “Many thanks go out to Sharpe Farm Supplies and Equine Erin for making this possible and for the donation which provides stimulus to carry on the mission of educating horse enthusiasts on preventable health and welfare issues.”

EquiMania’s new co-ordinator Nicole Weidner was on hand answering many questions by the equine nutrition display within the exhibit. The life-size model of the horse’s digestive system sure draws people in and soon they are learning about the importance of water and fibre to keep everything moving smoothly to prevent colic and other issues. Enthusiastic volunteers hand out the always popular horse hats and guide visitors through the highly interactive display.

“It is exciting to see EquiMania! in action! Our staff and volunteers are so passionate about horses and all the details that go into caring for them.” declares Nicole.  “It is great to see the sponsorship and teamwork bringing the entertaining and educational exhibit to venues of all sizes.”

Thanks again Equine Erin for having us out and supporting horse welfare initiatives. We hope to be at HorseDay Erin again in 2024!

  • Horses are more secure and comfortable when trailering if they can face the rear, but they prefer openings.
