Story of a Senior Horse: Lessons for Lucky
Rodney, Ontario – My Mom and I have a 32-year-old horse. His name is R Lucky Tramp. We call him Lucky. We are all senior citizens – Lucky, Mom and now me. Recently, my Mom asked a really good question. “What do I do if I find Lucky down?” (Our vet is over an hour away.)
The Canadian Draft Horse Futurity 2026
The Draft Horse Futurity began with David and Margo Carson in 2010 when David auctioned futurity weanlings and yearlings to bidders to begin the first 2 year old futurity competition in 2011. The futurity program has proven to be popular and successful each year. On average, the futurity sees approximately 30 foals sold each year with approximately 2/3 of the foals returning to compete 2 years later.

Bill Galvin Racing Alliance Celebrates Successful VIP Event at Clinton Raceway
In spite of heavy rain early in the day, the VIP Day hosted by the Bill Galvin Racing Alliance at Clinton Raceway on Sunday, August 23rd was well attended. Over 70 people attended the event, with many experiencing horse racing for the first time.

The Bill Galvin Racing Alliance would like to remind Ontario students that their stories, poems, sketches and drawings for the Youth Literary Derby and Youth Art Derby are due by Monday, Aug. 31.
The 2026 Great Lakes Carriage Classic (GLCC) A Success
Things started early at the show this year so that competitors could attend the Educational Clinic “How to Improve Your Dressage Scores” on Thursday afternoon. Enthusiastic clinic participants enjoyed the didactic teaching, walking the dressage tests and Q&A with Shelly Temple. A useful preparation for the following Combined Test Day, this clinic was held with the support of the American Driving Society - Hoopes Addis Education Trust.
Team Canada Closes Out The FEI World Championships With Two Fabulous Freestyles!
August 23, 2026 - Aachen, Germany – The Para Dressage World Championships wrapped up Sunday morning with Musical Freestyles, with two Canadian representatives: Roberta Sheffield with Nardando, and Jody Schloss with El Colorado. Sheffield competes in Grade II, and Schloss in Grades I. Both finished in fifth place in their respective classes.
Canada Qualifies Two Combinations For The Para Dressage Freestyle To Music At The FEI World Championships In Aachen, Germany
August 22, 2026 - Aachen, Germany – The Canadian Para dressage team completed their Grand Prix ‘B’ tests, the second phase of the team competition and final qualifier for the Freestyle to music taking place Sunday.
Adrienne Sternlicht Repeats RBC Grand Prix Victory at Wesley Clover Parks
Ottawa, Ontario – For the second year in a row, Adrienne Sternlicht of the United States won the $185,000 USD RBC Grand Prix, the featured event of the CSI4* Ottawa International show jumping tournament at Wesley Clover Parks in Ottawa, ON.
