“It’s so special to win this award here,” said Millar who trains out of her family’s Millar Brooke Farm in Perth, ON.

Toronto, Ontario – Canadian Olympian Amy Millar was named the Martha W. Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider on Saturday evening, November 11, 2023, at the Royal Horse Show, held as part of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, in Toronto, ON.

Presented by leading Wellington, Florida-based realtor Martha W. Jolicoeur, the Leading Lady Rider Award recognized the high-point female rider based on performances in the CSI4*-W international show jumping division. International competition at the Royal Horse Show spanned over four days, highlighted by the $250,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Toronto, a sought-after qualifying event for the 2024 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Millar, 46, enjoyed strong placings throughout the Royal Horse Show, including a win in the $38,500 Brickenden Trophy on Thursday, November 9, riding GCS Athena, owned by Brookstreet Stables Corporation, as well as a fourth-place finish in the $150,000 Mad Barn Big Ben International Challenge aboard Christiano, owned by Future Adventures, on Thursday evening, November 9.

“It’s so special to win this award here,” said Millar who trains out of her family’s Millar Brooke Farm in Perth, ON. “I’ve known Martha for a long time, and I really appreciate that she sponsors it. This is a sport where we compete equally with men but as a woman who has two children, I have added pressure that a lot of other people don’t experience. Being recognized as the leading lady rider makes me feel so special.”

In recognition of winning the Leading Lady Rider Award, Millar was presented with the winning sash, a bouquet of flowers, and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot rosé champagne by Willa Gauthier on behalf of the Royal Horse Show.

“I am so proud of Amy’s accomplishments this year,” said Jolicoeur, a former grand prix competitor who sponsors a Leading Lady Rider Award at select international show jumping competitions. “She was fabulous for Canada at the recent Pan American Games and carried her success into the Royal Horse Show. I’m always rooting for Amy; she’s a hard worker, a consistent rider, and a pleasure to know. I wish her continued success always!”
