the rider news sunset two horses and a rider

The first ORHA show is already in the books for 2026. The weather was a bit chilly and the horses were fresh but Ontario reiners had a great weekend in Clinton at REACH Huron for the Spring Fling! Two slates of reining classes and additional ranch riding opportunities made for a great weekend of showcasing the results of hard work and dedication over the winter months. A big shout out to JC Property for getting the area ready for big stops all weekend!

ORHyA Team Challenge Results

The youth varsity team provided riders with a great opportunity to team up and have a little fun! The challenge featured teams of two: one open/non-pro rider and one beginner/rookie/youth rider. Each member of the team rode half of the assigned pattern, and the highest combined score took the top prize. Congratulations to Darby Mailhot and Addison Spurr who took first place. This year’s Youth Team Challenge raised $260 for their scholarship program! Thank you to Peter Knelson for being a top-notch judge and to Made In Acton Designs for the amazing sponsorship!

NEW SPONSOR ALERT: SteelBuilt Corp

We are excited to welcome SteelBuilt Corp as a major sponsorship partner for the 2026 season. Proudly Canadian-owned and operated, SteelBuilt Corp specializes in custom steel and metal building solutions across Canada, with a strong focus on quality craftsmanship, reliability, and customer relationships. Their mission reflects a commitment to Canadian standards, Canadian suppliers, and helping clients build projects designed to last.

As part of this exciting partnership, we will be introducing the “SteelBuilt Buckle Up Novice Horse Series” at both our June and August shows. SteelBuilt Corp will also be onsite throughout the shows with a booth, giving competitors and spectators the opportunity to meet their team and learn more about what they do. They have lots of experience building barns and arenas and can help bring your vision to life. The added sponsorship support will provide valuable added money for our Ontario reiners who show in the Novice Horse as they continue chasing Top Ten World Title goals and accomplishing incredible milestones in and out of the show pen. We are thrilled to have SteelBuilt Corp join our reining community and look forward to a successful 2026 season together. Make sure you cross enter into the 2 slates offered to be eligible to run for a buckle! The buckle presentation will take place at our August Show just after the derby on Saturday night.
