This year’s Canadian Draft Horse Futurity will be held at the Ancaster Fairgrounds on October 23rd and 24th, 2026
The Draft Horse Futurity began with David and Margo Carson in 2010 when David auctioned futurity weanlings and yearlings to bidders to begin the first 2 year old futurity competition in 2011. The futurity program has proven to be popular and successful each year. On average, the futurity sees approximately 30 foals sold each year with approximately 2/3 of the foals returning to compete 2 years later. The competition has 3 classes to be judged independently by 3 judges. Halter, pattern and cart classes are held on Friday with the results and the futurity sale on Saturday.

The 2025 Canadian Draft Horse Futurity Futurity Pot was $ 50,000.00! The first place winner was Iron Forged Kaos shown by Jason Taylor!
Our mission is to promote, protect and develop purebred Belgian, Clydesdale & Percheron horse stock in Canada and to encourage the general and constant improvement in the breeding of these draft horses.
The success of the program relies on the generous consignments of foals to the futurity auction, the bidders that purchase these futurity foals, the competitors that return to compete for the futurity pot and our generous sponsors!
In 2025, 13 competitors returned for the competition and 28 foals were sold at the auction. Please see the results of the 2025 futurity below:
